Boxing: Kazakhstan super heavyweight boxer reached quarterfinals of Olympics

Ivan Dychko, Kazakhstan +91-kilogram weight league boxer, has advanced to the Olympic quarterfinals in London. He gained a convincing victory over German Eric Pfeifer. The 21-y.o native of Rudny (a town in Kostanay oblast of Kazakhstan) won the match with the score 14:4 (4:1, 5:1, 5:2). Kazakhstan Khabar TV channel was broadcasting the fight live. This is the first time the Kazakhstan super heavyweight boxer fights at the Olympics. Earlier Ivan Dychko performed as part of Kazakhstan national team in two World Boxing Championships and at Asian Games. The fighter, who had been training in Kostanay Boxing school, gained a bronze medal in last year's Baku World Championship and became the silver prize-winner in 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. Another Kazakhstan boxer Kanat Abutalipov failed to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament on Wednesday, August 1. The 29-y.o. Astana resident lost to John Joe Nevin of Ireland. Vijender Singh of India won over another Kazakhstan boxer Danabek Suzhanov 14:10 in the men's middleweight 75kg bout. Kazakhstan boxers Daniyar Yeleussinov (64-kilogram weight league), Birzhan Zhakipov (49 kilograms), Ilyas Suleymenov (52 kilograms) and Gany Zhailauov (60 kilograms) continue fighting in the London Olympics. Two-time world champion Serik Sapiyev hasn’t dough any matches yet.
